I won’t worry about what I can’t change

The above has been the motto of this past week for me. I’ve undergone a lot of change in my job and my life in general. I don’t say this for pity – I say it for prayer. I need lots and lots of prayer to stay strong in the Lord. I hear the lies of the deceiver telling me that I’m unworthy of His love and that I’m far away from Him. I know that’s not true!

Anyway, immediately what popped to mind was the Niebuhr’s “Serenity Prayer” and Proverbs 3:5-6. I hope this encourages you as it encouraged me today and has this week:

“God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will direct your paths.” (NIV)

Glory, CDL
